BLET Auxiliary
Alternate National Treasurer

Greetings to all of you! My name is Katryna Hughes, proudly serving as your Alternate Treasurer for our National BLET Auxiliary. My husband and I joined our local Auxiliary in North Platte, Nebraska, Flatrock #8, in 2015 after being invited to attend our first meeting. I am now serving my 3^rd term as President in our local Chapter. I know many of you agree that you wear many hats every single day, and somehow do it with confidence and grace. I am no exception. In addition to active involvement and leadership with BLET Auxiliary, I am a loving wife a Railroader, Mother of four amazing and resilient children, Director of Operations and All Lines Sales Specialist for Justin Thompson Agency, Inc. since 2008, and a Licensed Insurance Producer since 18 years of age.

My Husband, Corban Hughes, is an Engineer with Union Pacific Railroad. He hired out with Union Pacific as Trainman in 2003 and never looked back. All my children and I have ever known is the “extra board”.  A well-known industry verbiage that each of you identify with and have lived the struggles and sacrifice that comes with these Rail job titles. Corban was selected as Total Safety Culture Facilitator for his local Region, and proudly served this position from 2020 – 2022. He is now enjoying being back on the road with his fellow Brothers and Sisters, and continues to stay actively involved with the BLET Union, Local Division 388, and Auxiliary.

I am so thankful for my BLET and Railroad Family. They have become some of my best friends and confidants. Amazing humans I lean on in times of great joy and celebration, as well as times of hardship, sadness, and grief. I am forever grateful for the invite 7 years ago. I am forever appreciative for how this organization has uplifted and contributed to my family’s life.

I am going to leave you with this; Each and everyone DESERVES to be a part of our remarkable BLET Auxiliary family. An organization that has carried on its mission and commitment to our Rail wife’s, spouses, children, and  families for 135 years. Continuing our Organizations legacy and ability to serve our fellow Brothers, Sisters, Spouses and families, calls for your support. Every ounce of support helps us continue our fight and be heard for ALL of us, not just “Members”.
